Void Feature in POS Machine
The void feature in a POS machine allows merchants to cancel a transaction before it is settled, usually on the same business day. It is commonly used when the wrong amount is entered, a duplicate payment is made, or the customer decides not to proceed immediately after purchase. Since the transaction is voided before settlement, no funds are actually transferred from the customer’s account, and the charge may disappear quickly from pending transactions. This is different from a refund, which occurs after settlement and can take several days to reflect in the customer’s account. In short, a void is an instant cancellation, while a refund is a return of funds after the payment has already been processed.
Transaction Report
A transaction report shows all sales and payments made through the POS terminal. It includes details like date, amount, payment method, and status of each transaction. Merchants use it for daily reconciliation and settlement tracking.
